When one of the leading companies in construction technology thinks of innovative success, they think of us! Our commitment to innovation and efficiency is getting noticed by some heavy hitters in the industry. MCL is featured in aU.S. CAD case study that highlights the efficiency of Autodesk BIM 360 and our success in virtual management. As a company, our objective is to provide local teamwork with top industry standards.
“We are forward-thinking in our use of technology in a company our size,” said MCL Director of Innovation Tim Tiensvold. “We are doing things a giant or national firm would be using. We are a local company doing it at a national level. We can be a trusted source for those in our area.”
In 2016, we partnered with U.S. CAD and started using BIM 360. To keep up with our growth and current technology trends, U.S. CAD trained 80 MCL employees on the new cloud-based generation of BIM 360 in 2018.
“MCL is always looking for a way to provide better service and technology is one of those ways we can add value for our customers,” said Tiensvold.
BIM 360 is now one of our most effective tools for digital collaboration. It bridges the gap between our project managers, project engineers, subcontractors, and owners through data sharing.
In the last four years, BIM 360 helped MCL improve access to project documentation, drawings, manpower tracking, create checklists, assign and record issues, and submit punch lists. It gave everyone 24/7 access to projects from any location, something we could not do with paper designs.
It also highlights data analytics and is the overview module to focus on company-level reporting. Our executives can see high-risk trends, activities, and what is going on with projects from a supervisory perspective. Without it, data would be hampered and change management would be less efficient. We would lose the ability to historically track what happens on a project.
For the owners we work with, the program creates a post-construction guidebook. It acts as a digital blueprint of the building for maintenance staff to use and keep a record of.
Technology changes our building process and your experience as an owner. It’s imperative that we are on top of current trends and incorporate new technology where we can. Our continuous upgrades have proven to reduce rework and save time and, most of all money, on projects.
