POSITION: Director of Preconstruction
REPORT TO: Sr. Vice President CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt LOCATION: Omaha, NE GENERAL SUMMARY Full-time position for MCL Construction, a 30+ year general contractor working primarily in commercial construction and based in Omaha, NE. Functions as a key member of the management team and leads preconstruction and estimating efforts of MCL. The essential duties of the Director of Preconstruction are to work with owners, architects, and MCL personnel in the development of conceptual, schematic, design, and construction document estimates, as required by the situation; and which provide our clients with high quality solutions at competitive costs. The Director of Preconstruction manages the workload and development of the preconstruction/estimating staff. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required. Minimal travel is required. Educational background of top candidates could be from a variety of fields including: Preconstruction, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering (Construction, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural), Urban Planning, Campus Master Planning, Facilities Master Planning, and other related fields. Ten or more years of experience in management-level positions will be expected of top candidates. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered. Skill set to include cost estimating and estimate analysis (conceptual, schematic, design, and construction), RFP/Q preparation and analysis, scheduling, knowledge of various construction methods and installation procedures, purchasing, contract negotiations, presentations, and management of personnel. Candidates will be technology literate and proficient in the Microsoft environment (Excel, Word, Outlook) and estimating software platforms (e.g. Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, etc.) Experience in GMP and CMAR contracting models is a plus. |
