MCL Construction was presented with the opportunity to match new construction with old world craftsmanship at the historic Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. Extensive use of brick, wood, and decorative precast allows Duchesne Academy to have a new and updated space without compromising the integrity of its historical traditions.
The project added a barrier-free entrance to the historic campus that leads to a spacious new theatre lobby. The lobby area also consists of a new catering kitchen allowing the space to be used for meetings and receptions.
A new elevator was added to the school to allow for ADA-compliance. Additional improvements to the building included new paint, lights, and sound system in the auditorium, and the renovation of the school cafeteria. Exterior improvements include a new shrine, new sidewalks, and patio that can also be used for receptions.
MCL Construction's skilled finish carpentry team took great pride in matching the ornate and detailed wood finishes to replicate the look and quality of the rest of the building that dates back over 125 years.
