POSITION: Economic Inclusion Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Exempt
LOCATION: Omaha, NE

GENERAL SUMMARY
Full-time position for MCL Construction, a construction manager/ general contractor working primarily in commercial construction.  Working with MCL’s Human Resources, Marketing, Preconstruction, and Field Operations teams as well as community resources, the Economic Inclusion Coordinator develops, plans, and administers sourcing practices meant to promote diversity among MCL's suppliers and subcontractors.  This position will develop programs, mentorship, training, and community outreach initiatives relating to the overall Economic Inclusion strategy.  In addition, this position offers the opportunity to create new industry relationships, build on existing relationships, and make a positive impact in our construction area footprint.

MCL’s focus will not be on “statistics” or “quotas” but on outcomes.  We seek to provide opportunities and build relationships with capable and willing suppliers and subcontractors which we can help to train and mentor as they strive to develop their skills and grow their businesses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS 
  • Identify, develop, manage, and maintain relationships with diverse subcontractors, suppliers, and community organizations.  
  • Coordinate with internal departments to promote the utilization of diverse businesses, which may include small and/or disadvantaged businesses, and woman-owned or minority-owned businesses. 
  • Plans and executes internal and external diversity outreach efforts including community events, webinars, social media outreach, conferences, and other initiatives that support MCL’s objectives.
  • Assist with organizing networking events like project fairs and plan rooms to enhance small and diverse business participation on MCL Construction projects
  • Monitor proposal, evaluation, and contracting processes to ensure compliance with internal or external requirements governing the use of diverse businesses.
  • Monitor results and collaborate with key leaders throughout the organization to measure success.
  • Manage diverse subcontractor and vendor tracking and reporting efforts to internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and/or philanthropic organizations on initiatives supporting MCL’s goal of participating in and giving back to the community.  Projects may include identifying partner organizations, development of curriculum, workshops, classroom presentations, etc.
  • Develop and manage a subcontractor and supplier “career growth program” with MCL Training & Development and Human Resources.   
  • Work closely with Preconstruction and Operations teams to incorporate the Supplier Diversity Program into the bidding and procurement process.
  • Attend client interviews and presentations as requested to report on small/disadvantaged/diverse business enterprise utilization.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Years of related experience in a similar role with demonstrated success in relevant areas including recruiting and developing relationships with diverse subcontractors and suppliers, and executing events and activities around these efforts.
  • Candidates will be highly technology literate and proficient in the Microsoft environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).  
  • Progressive experience with diversity outreach and compliance programs. 
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
  • Ability to coordinate or manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Works well in a team environment.
