Field Engineer Internship

Get real world, hands-on experience as a Field Engineer intern for MCL Construction. As an intern, you will support the field operations team and may be exposed to office engineering functions and estimating. The Field Engineer will work closely with a project’s superintendent and develop working relationships with MCL’s project team, subcontractors, and Owner representatives. This internship offers an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the construction industry and contribute to the success of projects. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Mangers, Superintendents and/or Project Engineers in project areas which may include:
  • Interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews
  • Preparation of work plans, packages, and estimates
  • Management of subcontractors, material suppliers, and MCL crews
  • Field/site survey and layout
  • Compiling and processing time sheets
  • Jobsite safety reviews, meetings, and training
  • Exposure to ordering and scheduling material deliveries
  • Perform basic engineering measurements and calculations to support field operations
  • Maintaining project and change management documents
  • Preparation of RFI and submittal documents and logs.
  • Understand and Participate in the Shop Drawing Review Process
  • Read and Understand Plans and Specifications
  • Exposure to Site Layout, Footings, Exterior Skin, Interior Construction
  • Introduction to quality Control Procedures and Methods

Qualification and Competencies:

• Strong desire to learn and grow within the construction industry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team or individually
• Adaptability and willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the project team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of construction process, terminology, software, and principles is a plus
• Pursuing secondary education, such as Associates, Bachelors or Masters degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
