MCL Construction built the first USGBC Certified LEED Platinum project in the state of Nebraska, Morrissey Engineering's 4940 Building.  This project sets the standard for sustainable design and energy efficiency.  The building ranks in the top 6% of comparable buildings in the country for energy efficiency.

The building consists of a structural steel frame with curtain wall, skylights, metal panels, and EIFS skin.  The mechanical system is made up of geothermal ground loops, heat pumps, and an energy recovery unit.  This project also includes solar panels, wind spire, and an 800 AMP main distribution panel.

Special features of the project include a man-made pond with water fountain, skylights, and 8-foot tall windows that provide direct views of the outdoors for more than 90 percent of the staff.  Other green amenities include recycling stations, bike storage, showers with changing rooms, preferred parking for fuel-efficient vehicles, and carpools.

85.9% of construction material was recycled on this project.  The building helps Morrissey Engineering achieve a 40% decrease in CO² emissions and an approximate 40% savings in utility costs.
