"This honor humbles the entire MCL Construction team," said MCL Senior Vice President Tony Fucinaro. "This was a project from start to finish that was committed to delivering excellence for Creighton University. In addition to our team, RDG Planning and Design, Project Advocates, and all our building partners made this a success."
The Creighton School of Dentistry took less than two years to build thanks to the innovative construction management strategies initiated by MCL Construction that include:
• Autodesk BIM 360 Build • Asset Tagging • iPlan Table • Prefabrication "Our team was committed to meeting the budget and schedule demands that Creighton Univesity had for this project," added Fucinaro. "We had to be innovative in our approach, use of materials, and sub-contractor buy-in." MCL Construction was able to expedite the project schedule by utilizing its in-house Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team. This approach allowed the team to identify and eliminate clashes before construction started, prefabricated several components of the building to eliminate overall working hours on the project, and save 48 days on the overall master schedule. MCL Construction's innovative approach to construction management saved Creighton University time and money. |
The project includes expanded clinical spaces for adults and children which allows the university to provide over $1.3 million in services to underserved patients. These services include free clinics, preventative care education, and pediatric dental care.
Creighton University estimates the School of Dentistry project will reach an economic impact on the Omaha community of $848 million in 2023 with the new facility and up to 200 new jobs will be created indirectly.
