Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, announces the completion of the second phase of the Surgery Expansion Project on its campus located at 8303 Dodge Street.
The second phase includes the addition of 15 new surgery rooms including two heart and one endovascular suite. The addition of 60,551 square feet also includes a new sterile processing department, a new waiting room, new office space, locker rooms, and a physicians’ lounge.
“Opening the OR spaces in phases was necessary so we could maintain our current surgery schedule while moving some of our existing equipment to the new OR suites,” said Jay Jadlowski, Service Executive - Surgical Services at Methodist Hospital. “As has been the case during this entire construction period – we’ve not stopped providing surgical services and won’t as we put the finishing touches on our new surgical areas.”
The first phase of the project included the mechanical and electrical upgrades needed to build the new surgery suites, the kitchen and dining room facility updates, and a new Endoscopy Center was constructed on the second floor.
The third phase of the project will start in late August and will consist of the demolition of the old operating rooms and remodeling them into 44 new private prep/recovery rooms.
MCL Construction is the general contractor on this project and has worked closely with the hospital staff and designer to assure the safety and quality that is demanded in healthcare construction with minimal to no disruption to daily hospital activities and procedures.
