“The final beam placed for the new building symbolizes another step forward in our journey towards the future for Creighton's School of Dentistry. As the physical presence of the school takes shape on Cuming Street, I am assured of the positive impact this building will have for our students, as well as the greater Omaha community," said Dr. Latta.
MCL Construction's trade partner, Davis Erection, started setting steel on February 27th of this year. Twenty iron workers worked over the last five months to set 8,900 pieces of structural and miscellaneous steel totaling 1,440 tons. That adds up 2,880,000 pounds!
"The reason we were able to set the steel so fast is that we have a great team," said MCL Construction Superintendent Jim Fleissner. "We were able to plan and coordinate months before we even started setting steel. When you have the right plan and the right team, it makes everything look easy."
MCL Construction broke ground on the Creighton School of Dentistry last September. The 200,000 square foot facility is scheduled to be complete next July.
MCL Construction is locally owned and operated and is celebrating its 30th year of building projects of all sizes in Omaha and Western Iowa in 2017.
