Preconstruction Internship

Get real world, hands-on experience as a Preconstruction intern for MCL Construction. As an intern, you will work with Quantity Take-Off tools and participate in project Estimate Reviews. This internship offers an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the construction industry and contribute to the success of projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Pre-Construction team in areas which may include:
  • Participation in Preconstruction team meetings
  • Understanding of Subcontractor solicitation and buyout process
  • Learning Quantity Take-off procedures and tools
  • Understand of bid comparison format and development
  • Developing basic skills in estimating (conceptual through construction documents)
  • Participation in Estimate Review and Project Handoff Meetings
  • Reviewing construction drawings for scope and understanding
  • Solicit and review subcontractor and material supplier quotes
  • Utilize estimating systems and software (e.g. Timberline and On-screen Takeoff)

Qualification and Competencies:

• Strong desire to learn and grow within the construction industry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team or individually
• Adaptability and willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the project team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of construction process, terminology, software, and principles is a plus\Pursuing secondary education, such as Associates, Bachelors or Masters degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field
