Project Engineer Internship

Get real world, hands-on experience as a Project Engineer intern for MCL Construction. As an intern, you will support the project management team. The intern will work closely with a project’s Project Manager and develop working relationships with MCL’s project team, subcontractors, and Owner representatives. This internship offers an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the construction industry and contribute to the success of projects. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Mangers, Superintendents and/or Project Engineers in project areas which may include:
  • Pre-construction activities including work plans and estimates
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules
  • Understanding project, change management, and project cost control documents
  • Regularly interact with and maintain good working relationships with owner and architect, subcontractors, material suppliers and all members of the project team
  • Assist in the management of subcontractors and material suppliers on the project
  • Reviewing and maintain submittal documents
  • Monitor and ensure project quality
  • Manage project Closeout
  • Update Record Drawings
  • Participating in the shop drawing review and subcontractor buyout processes
  • Understand and participate in Writing RFIs
  • Participate in OAC, Subcontractor, Pre-Activity and MCL Team Meetings
  • Introduction to MCL’s Change Event/Contingency Process

Qualification and Competencies:

• Strong desire to learn and grow within the construction industry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team or individually
• Adaptability and willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the project team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of construction process, terminology, software, and principles is a plus
• Pursuing secondary education, such as Associates, Bachelors or Masters degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field
