MCL Construction hits a major milestone at the Creighton University School of Dentistry project in Omaha, Nebraska. One of the most significant projects in the history of Creighton University achieved substantial completion status on Friday, July 6, 2018.
"This speaks volumes to the level of collaboration for the last two years," said MCL Construction Senior Vice President Tony Fucinaro who was the Project Executive. "From the design teams to the excellent trade partners that devoted so much time of their lives, I know they all take great pride in the final product."
There were many people outside the project team who questioned if the ambitious schedule for such a large and innovative project was achievable. Fucinaro says there was never any doubt that Creighton would be ready for its largest class in Creighton’s Dental School history starting in the fall of 2018.
"Everyone understood we had a target we had to hit, failure to reach that goal was never an option. In fact, Creighton was given its certificate of occupancy three weeks ahead of schedule."
Substantial completion means the University and the Dental School staff can start moving into the building and be ready for classes and clinics to begin in August.
Construction started on the project in September of 2016 and is a real local effort as RDG Planning and Design, Alvine Engineering, TD2, and Project Advocates joined MCL Construction on the project's success.
