A 73-year-old vision for the Boys Town campus grew to new levels last week.
The existing high school, built in 1948, was not able to meet the growing needs of Boys Town and was not equipped for progressive technology. Boys Town selected MCL Construction to build an educational center that would continue Father Flanagan’s vision of providing the best services and care to our community youth.
“This is going to give us opportunities we never imagined,” said Boys Town Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Reznicek. “We are building a multi-generational school here that will serve everyone in the same building on campus. Anywhere from open space, flexible space, to new technology, this will position us very well for 20-30 years down the road.”
The new 110,000 square foot Education Center will serve all students on campus in two different wings. The precast structure will feature a mural dedicated to Father Flanagan and act as a reminder of where they started, the impact they have made, and the lives they will continue to touch through this new building and all the services they provide.
There will be a three-level high school wing connected to a two-level middle school and elementary wing.
“Boys town has always been a fixture in Omaha that I was always well aware of,” said Project Manager Tyler Adams. “Working with the Boys Town team has been amazing. They have been very steadfast in always keeping the kids’ education and their priority to give them one of the top educational facilities in the nation is at the forefront of the process.”
MCL Construction, DLR Group, and our partners for the project are committed to building for the future and look forward to the excellence that will come from each student attending the new school.
