The world today runs on data. The more we know, the better decisions we can make. Data can be intimidating and downright scary at times. It's almost like you need a mad scientist to keep track of all the information that technology captures. Or better yet, a data scientist!
MCL Construction deploys a variety of information technology in the office and the field. But how do we update and preserve that information through changes? Well, that’s where our mad... we mean data scientist comes in. Thierry Willner recently joined the MCL Construction team as the Director of Information Technology.
“Data is an asset. It means you can make decisions,” said Willner. “You look at data from the past to make decisions and you need a way to put all of the data together to have a record to influence those decisions. I am streamlining that process here.” Willner joins MCL with an extensive background in Information Technology. Prior to MCL, he worked for Catch Intelligence, in business intelligence for the Department of Transportation, and Black & Veatch. He also worked as a private intelligence consultant for many years. It was through his consulting job where he was introduced to MCL Construction. Willner presented at a business intelligence workshop in 2017. MCL Managing Principal, Tony Fucinaro, attended the conference and was interested in what Willner had to offer. He reached out to him this year with a job offer at MCL Construction. "We talk a lot about being iterative and being able to serve our clients quickly so they can make decisions and we can make decisions," said Fucinaro. "We need to be able to access information quickly and merge it together so we can be collaborative and make informed decisions together. Having Thierry allows us to be resourceful with the information we already have and the new information we obtain." Willner’s primary focus will be managing and developing more efficient ways to seamlessly share information across departments in the office and the field. Additionally, he is developing efficiencies in combining information in every phase of a project to keep the whole building process together for a current and historical reference. Furthermore, MCL Construction prides itself on our relationships with project partners and early integration with the project team. From our day one meeting to real-time updates, information-sharing eliminates surprises in construction and produces better outcomes for our clients. Developing innovative ways to stay ahead of technology changes and keeping our clients involved every step of the way is an asset he brings to MCL. “Technology allows us to be in constant communication with our clients,” said Willner. “It allows them to see a project without being on the job site and provide feedback for the entire team. It’s crucial that that information is being shared and stored properly among the whole company.” Willner’s plans to streamline our technology platforms starts with safety. At MCL, we are your trusted building partner. That trust goes beyond delivering a world-class project, it is our promise to protect sensitive or confidential information through the building process and once your project is complete. Willner is taking advanced steps in upgrading our cyber security systems. MCL is confident that these small changes will have big impacts on your building experience moving forward and will create a digital imprint that will outlast any structure.
