St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in Omaha, Nebraska, opened the new school year with a lot more space. MCL Construction completed a two-story addition to the existing school and church buildings that added six additional classrooms.
"St. Wenceslaus is grateful for the beautiful new facility," said Amber Glasshoff, the Operations Director at St. Wenceslaus. "We now have updated classrooms with more space and a higher level of security to provide a safer and better learning environment and an opportunity for our 870 students to grow."
The project took 14 months to complete and had to be carefully sequenced because of the site constraints and completing masonry and concrete work in the winter.
Underground ductwork was installed to feed the existing mechanical equipment. The slate shingles and exterior masonry match perfectly with the existing building.
"MCL has been very good to work with throughout this project. They were able to identify issues and communicate well with the Parish and architects to efficiently resolve any issues," added Glasshoff.
The entire project added 13,315 square feet to the St. Wenceslaus campus. There are spacious restrooms on each floor, and a FEMA-rated storm shelter for additional safety.
