Woodhouse Mazda is making your car buying experience more accessible. They selected MCL Construction to build a new dealership in Bellevue, Nebraska. The new location is a more convenient option for customers who live in different parts of the state.
This was the first dealership MCL completed, and our test drive was a huge success.
“I don’t think it is an easy build; the expectations are high from a manufacturer and MCL met them,” said Woodhouse Auto Family CFO Paul Chech. “If you have the right team and you have the right feedback, it can be a success.”
That right team started with MCL Project Manager Tyler Adams. This was not Tyler’s first dealership experience or his first time working with or around cars.
As a kid, Tyler could not tell you the cool baseball card to collect around the neighborhood, but he could tell you the make and model of any car that drove through it.
“Back then, if you named a car, I could tell you how fast it went from 0 to 60,” Adams said.
When given the opportunity to be part of building this new dealership, Adams and MCL Construction were eager to get started.
MCL broke ground on the project in October 2019. Just like each car has its own manual, this building came with specific standards for MCL.
“The manufacturer gives you the building layout and you have to build it to their exact specifications,” said Chech. “Think about how many Starbucks or McDonald's you have seen. Each one looks the same with nearly the same layout. The same thing applies to car dealerships. We want everyone to have the same experience no matter which location they visit.”
For Tyler, it’s like learning about a new car all over again.
“Car dealerships require a lot of careful coordination and planning with third-party vendors,” said Adams. “It’s always really cool to see so many people work together to produce quality projects. I like the challenge of bringing it all together.”
The slick black and white exterior of the new building is made from CMU block veneer, cast stone, metal panels, and storefront glazing. From the storefront, you can see the Bendpack Vehicle Lift System, a system that allows vehicle stacking for display purposes.
The interior is complete with high-end finishes, ceramic tile flooring, custom wooden accents, customer lounge, and service reception drive.
On the other side of the building, MCL built a service center complete with vehicle lifts and a unique storage system, the Modula Lift. The Modula Lift is a vertical warehouse storage system that stores, organizes, and retrieves large car parts. It saves time, space, and increases security. The system is completely automated and reduces the risk of injury when pulling heavy equipment or materials off a rack or storage container.
The dealership opened late last year. MCL also set the groundwork for a new car wash next to the property to prepare for a future project.
